Hoje, o surf no rio já faz parte da paisagem do Barreiro. Quem frequenta a praia conhece os surfistas locais, e os capitães dos catamarãs já estão habituados a ser recebidos com entusiasmo por causa das ondas que a sua passagem vai gerar. Mas há uns anos, isto era só um sonho na cabeça de meia dúzia de homens do mar. Decidimos ir explorar esta onda caricata, como surgiu e como funciona. Quisemos testá-la com duas pranchas diferentes, e levámos também o foil - este último não sabíamos se ia funcionar, até porque é possível que nunca ninguém tenha feito foil ali antes. Mas, tal como a onda do Barreiro, a maioria das coisas boas começam com alguém curioso a perguntar: "e se experimentássemos?" Beach-goers know the local surfers, and the ferry captains are used to being greeted with excitement over the waves that their passage will generate. But some years ago, this was just a dream in the mind of a handful of watermen. We decided to explore this unusual wave, how it came to be and how it works. We wanted to test it with two different boards, and we also took the foil - which we had no idea whether it would work, as it’s likely that no one had ever used a foil there before.
